Lineage:
Robert ABDY, Esq., of Albyns, next brother of Sir Thomas
Abdy, 1st Bart. of Felix Hall, was himself created a Baronet 9 June 1669, a title which
remained with his descendants until the decease unm., in 1759, of
Sir John ABDY, 4th Bart. of Albyns, who bequeathed his
estates to his aunt, Mrs. Crank, for life, with remainder to Sir Anthony-Thomas Abdy,
Bart. of Felix Hall, to the Rev. Stotherd Abdy, that gentleman's brother, and eventually,
on the failure of issue of both, to Thomas, son of the Rev. Dr. Rutherforth, Archdeacon of
Essex, by their sister, Charlotte Abdy. The last-named devisee ultimately
inherited, and assuming the surname and arms of Abdy, in 1775, became
The Rev. Thomas-Abdy Abdy, of Albyns; he m. in 1778,
Mary, dau. of James Hayes, Esq., of Holliport, Bencher of the Middle
Temple, and d. in 1798, leaving issue,
John Rutherforth Abdy, his heir.
Anthony Abdy, Captain R.N., who m. Rachel, dau. of Adm.
Sir Thomas Rich, and left at his decease one son,
Thomas Neville, now of Albyns.
Charles Boyd Abdy, of Coopersall, in holy orders.
James Nicholas Abdy, Lieut. Col. in the East India
Company's service, who m. Charlotte, dau. of Thomas King, Esq., and has issue, John,
Charles, George and Charlotte.
Edward Strutt Abdy, Fellow of Jesus College, Cambridge.
Maria Henrietta, m. to James Sikes, Esq., and had three
daus., Harriet, Mary Anne, and Isabel, wife of Harpur Gamble, M.D.
Mary, m. to the Rev. James Williams, of Matherne.
Caroline, m. to the Rev. Henry Middleton.
The eldest son, John Rutherforth Abdy Hatch Abdy, of
Albyns, Esq., m. Caroline Elizabeth, dau. of Oliver Hatch, Esq., of Bromley, but d. s. p.
in 1840, aged 61, when he was s. by his nephew,
